Do's

 

GLASS

Clear and colored glass bottles. All bottles must be washed and all tops need to be removed however the labels may remain. Not to be included with the recycled glass products : light bulbs, mirrors, Pyrex, heat tempered glass or ceramics.
 

PLASTIC

At the bottom of each plastic container you will see a recycling symbol with a number in it.
Almost any container with the numbers 1-7 can be placed
out for collection. Please see EXCEPTIONS TO COLLECTABLE ITEMS for a listing of items that are excluded from collection.
 

METAL

Any food or beverage cans (aluminum , tin, & steel) empty and rinse the cans. The cans can be crushed and it is okay to leave the labels on. For all other metal product collection please contact our office to arrange the removal of these items.
 
CARDBOARD& NEWSPAPER

 

Clean and dry newspaper
and non-waxed Corrugated
Cardboard must be tied and bundled separately. The bundles can be tied with heavy jute rope, twine or placed in a plain brown paper bag.
NOTE: No bundles will be taken if they are tied with plastic, pantyhose or wire. If the bundle are extremely wet they will be considered contaminated and
may be taken as trash as they will be rejected as trash by the County recycling center.
 
MIXED OFFICE PAPER& CHIPBOARD

 

Junk mail , printing paper, cereal
boxes and shoe boxes are now
collectable as well. Shredded
paper should be placed in a
brown paper bag. All junk mail, magazines and chipboard should be bundled in the same manner as newspaper and cardboard. Chipboard includes; cereal boxes, paper towel tubes gray notepad
backer and related items.
Note: These items need to be kept dry as well or may be considered contaminated and taken as trash.
 
EXCEPTION TO COLLECTABLE ITEMS
Although many items can be recycled there are still many items that cannot be. These items include but are not limited to: * #2 resin-coded 5 gallon ”spackle” buckets, plastic bags, sheet plastic (film or food wrap), plastic tubing, agricultural “marshmallow” round hay bale plastic, or any medical waste of any kind.
* In addition printing cartridges can not be collected curbside. Please contact the store of purchase or the manufacturer for information on collection for these items.
* Cardboard—Pizza boxes, milk cartons,
ice cream containers are not recyclable as they are waxed and considered contaminated.
 
Don'ts

NO:

  • Soda and beer packs (treated with chemicals)
  • Bag inserts from cereal
  • Pizza boxes (because of grease)
  • Dishwasher soap & laundry detergent boxes
  • Ice cream boxes (wax inside)
  • Drink boxes (wax inside)
  • Milk cartons (wax inside)

Extra Tips

Empty and rinse ALL containers

Discard all caps and lids

You can crush plastic bottles and metal cans
